What’s this, black metal with major chords and post-prog passages? Remniscent of Enslaved, and I know that’s a moving-target of a comparison. Fortid keeps their energy between uptempo and mellow, with a generally “bright” spin on things, in the underground metal sense, equal or greater to that of modern Enslaved (which I also love, by the way).

Novae Militiae are on my growing list of bands who play the “evil” card perfectly, properly avoiding doing anything too traditionally, unless we count the tradition of blasting the listener into submission, with technical precision and free-flowing style. I’m impressed.
